Countdown to Christmas – Shaker Ornament

Hello! It’s been a while since I have posted but I am trying to get better at it! I’ve just started my weekly Live@Lunch Countdown to Christmas series so my goal is to do a blog post to go along with my video!

Today I kicked off the series with a fun little shaker ornament. It’s easy to make and one box of Mason Jar Shaker Domes is enough to make 5 double sided ornaments or 10 single sided ornaments.

To make this ornament cut a piece of 6″ x 6″ Designer series paper in half. Hold the 3″ x 6″ pieces of DSP together with the same side (design) facing out and punch with the Mason Jar Punch. Trim 6″ length to about 3 1/2″ to 4″. If desired you can trim the 3″ width to about 2 1/2″ by trimming 1/4″ from each side

Next, punch the Penguin Body with the Penguin Builder Punch. Stamp details on white body part and attach to black body part.

Punch out penguin body parts with Penguin Builder Punch

Now comes the fun part! Place the penguin body in one of the Mason Jar Shaker domes and add some subtle shimmer sequins. Remove the adhesive covering from the back of the Mason Jar Shaker Domes and carefully align the domes, creating a full jar effect. Remove adhesive covering from the front of one of the domes and align DSP over it. Flip the ornament and repeat the process on the back side, adding some liquid glue along the edges of the DSP.

Add elements to Mason Jar Shaker Domes

Punch a hole in the top of your ornament and thread about 8″ to 10″ of ribbon through hole. Tie ribbon ends together in a knot, trimming ends if necessary. Hang your ornament on a tree or add to a gift box or bag for a little extra “WOW”.

I hope you enjoyed the video and are excited to try making your own 3D Shaker Ornament. I’d love to see what you make so be sure to post a picture of your creation. Happy Stamping!

Don’t miss out on the classic Christmas Means More

Every once in a while, I find a stamp set that just speaks to me from the first time I see it! In the August to December Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up! the set that won my heart from the start is the wonderfully playful Christmas Means More stamp set. Don’t be fooled by its obvious simplicity – the set contains four sentiments that are iconic lines from classic holiday movies. As soon as I saw the set I was transported back to my childhood and the fun times baking Christmas cookies with my mom while we watched these classic movies.

The quotes are from some of my favorite movies and every time I use them I just can’t help smiling (or singing or reeling off other lines from the movies). Let’s see if you can name the movies from these classic lines: “Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more” or “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”. How about “Every time a bell rings and angel gets its wings” or the simple “I believe – it’s silly, but I believe.”

Subscribing to the idea of simplicity is the essence of good design, it’s so easy to create beautiful cards with this set. Check out these two I demonstrated for my Facebook Live and posted to my YouTube channel (thanks for subscribing).

Both cards were so simple to make and are great for beginning stampers. The card bases are 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″, with on card having a portrait orientation and the other having a landscape orientation. Both feature the beautiful Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP). For the Pear Pizzazz card, cut your DSP to 3″ x 4″ and your Mossy Meadow layer to 3.5″ x 4.5″ You can add some bling with the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and use the Real Red double stitched satin ribbon to tie a pretty bow around it. Stamp your sentiment on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and die cut with the layering circles. Attach to card front using stampin dimensionals. For the Mossy Meadow card, cut your DSP to 3″ x 1″ and layer it over a Real Real cut to 3.75″ x 3.5″. Add a stitched rectangle with the sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow ink to complete the card. Heat Embossing and Glimmer Paper add sparkle and shine to this card

This card using heat embossing and the Balmy Blue Glimmer paper to add sparkle and shine to the snowflakes. Using your Stamparatus to position the snowflakes on your card stock allows you to stamp then emboss them all at once. I used the following supplies to make this card: Balmy Blue card base 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at 4.25″, Night of Navy layer 5.25″ x 4″, stamped with Versa Mark and heat embossed with white embossing powder, Balmy Blue Glimmer paper 1.5″ x 4″ and punched with the Triple Banner punch; Whisper White 1″ x 3.75″ and punched with the new Banners Pick a Punch; Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad; Die Snowflakes using Balmy Blue Glimmer paper.
